Skipped meals, stretched paychecks, rationed ramen, and food insecurity take many forms. McDaniel College reminds students: seeking help is human, and the community stands ready to provide it.
That is the spirit behind the McDaniel College Food Pantry.
Food insecurity is not having access to sufficient food, whether it’s having to choose between buying books or dinner or skipping meals because you can’t afford it or don’t have meal swipes.??
The McDaniel College Food Pantry is powered by students and staff who believe in change.?
The pantry is stocked through a partnership with Westminster Rescue Mission and Maryland Food Bank. These organizations collect donations from grocery stores across the state. There are also donation bins all around campus buildings, so if you’re able to give supplies you can drop them off at the Student Success Center (Hoover Library), the Information Desk (Mid-level of Roj Student Center), or the Office of Student Belonging (Across from Englar Dining). The pantry is located on the first floor of Winslow Hall (AKA where the wellness center is). There are shelves stocked with canned goods, snacks, hygiene products, and more.
The hours are:
- Mondays, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
- Tuesday, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
- Wednesday, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
- Thursday, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
- Friday, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
So, whether you need a little help or want to offer some, the pantry is here. No shame. No judgment. Just shelves full of support.
