Furry Faces of McDaniel: Campus Dogs You’ll Love

McDaniel College is home to some extraordinary canine companions who bring joy, comfort, and personality to campus life. These dogs are more than pets—they are friends, supporters, and beloved members of the community.

Figa, a five-year-old emotional support dog, is a Biewer Blueberry Yorkie with a personality as big as her four-pound frame. Her striking blue eyes and perpetually outstretched tongue have become her signature look. Often spotted in North Village, Figa struts in stylish outfits and proves that confidence is not measured in size.

Pinto, a six-month-old golden retriever, is training to become a psychiatric and medical alert service dog. His calm demeanor and intelligence make him a perfect candidate, though he still loves a good game of fetch. Pinto resides in Blanche Ward but is often seen practicing skills across campus. When off-duty, he enjoys meeting new friends—just remember to ask before petting.

Caboose, a lovable pit bull, defies the stereotype of being “big and scary.” Known for his goofy grumbles and dramatic side-eye, Caboose is a gentle soul who insists on touching someone while sleeping to feel safe. Short but strong, he loves jumping on things and sports one floppy ear that never stands up. Caboose can switch from relaxed to playful in seconds, offering endless energy and affection.

Dug, a 10-month-old purebred Golden Retriever, is an emotional support dog with a heart as golden as his coat. Dug combines intelligence with an irresistibly sweet nature, making him a comforting presence to everyone he meets. His gentle demeanor and eagerness for attention ensure that every interaction is filled with warmth and wagging tails—proof that support can come on four paws.

These furry friends do more than brighten days—they foster connection and comfort. Whether offering emotional support, training for service, or simply spreading smiles, Figa, Pinto, Caboose, and Dug remind us that campus life is richer when shared with a wagging tail.
