WESTMINSTER, Md. — In response to rising student enrollment and an ongoing need for campus housing, McDaniel College announced Monday that Englar Dining Hall will be converted into the college’s newest residence hall.
College officials said the decision was made after determining that students spend significantly more time sleeping than eating, making Englar the “logical next step” for expansion. The transformation will reportedly include converting the main dining area into double and triple-occupancy rooms, with booths repurposed as built in desks.
Students assigned to the new dorm can expect upgraded amenities, including convenient late night access to former food stations and strong nostalgic aromas of pizza and French fries. While the dining hall will no longer serve meals, officials assured students that memories of midnight chicken tenders will remain “deeply embedded in the walls.”
Administrators added that the project reflects McDaniel’s commitment to innovation and adaptability, noting that “no space with a roof and questionable lighting is off limits.”
Additional details, including move in dates and where students are now expected to eat, will be announced later.
