Recently I had the opportunity to interview lead singer and guitarist Jeffrey Gueritey of Freshman Sunday via Facebook.

Q- So you just released your ep “Forever” on itunes, what has been the response so far? And what was it like releasing your first ep?

A- The response has been way more than expected which is truly awesome, it’s good to see all our hard work being paid off by our loving fans. Oh man releasing our first ep was so exciting! All of our time, love, feelings, and fun all pressed into 6 of our first songs is an intense feeling that can’t be mimicked.

Q- How would you describe your band to someone who hasn’t heard of you or listened to your music?

A- Describing Freshman Sunday to someone who hasn’t listened first I would say a little bit of everything in one. We truly haven’t found a band that can regenerate the same sound we put out.

Q- What makes you guys different from every other band out there?

A- What makes us different is bringing the real life feelings to the table. Whenever I’m in a pickle, broken hearted, happy, worried, I write about what I feel then that gets put into a song. What people are hearing are real feelings from real people who will answer them with catchy melodies and rockin’ music.

Q- What song of yours would you recommend to someone who hasn’t listened to your music before?

A- My favorite on the record right now is “Over Goodbyes”

Q- Who writes all the songs? Where do you get inspiration for the songs?

A- I write all the lyrics. The inspiration comes from everyday struggles and uprisings that occur in my life or someone else’s.

Q- What has been your biggest challenge so far as a band?

A- Our biggest challenge is getting our name out there and touring

Q- How did you come up with the band name?

A- Long story short we made a video of us pretending to beat up our bassist’s little brother because he was a freshman except it wasn’t a friday it was a sunday.

Q- What has been your favorite show to play and why?

A- I would say my favorite show personally would be our last show we performed with Hit The Lights. A lot of people, a lot of smiles, and a lot of new fans :)

Q- Who is someone you would like to tour with?

A- We would LOVE to tour with Allstar Weekend

Q- Out of all the songs you’ve recorded/written which is your favorite?

A- I would say my favorite song I’ve written is “Over Goodbyes” it’s about my first relationship and how it didn’t work out which almost everyone can relate too.

Q- What do you hope Freshman Sunday is doing/accomplishing in a year?

A- We hope to release a full length and tour nationwide by next year. Hopefully play “The Bamboozle”

Q- Any upcoming plans in the works for Freshman Sunday we should know about? Any up coming shows?

A- We plan to do a lot of shows and if we can do a winter tour.

Q- Do have any advice for someone who wants to pursue music as a career?

A-My advice to someone who’s pursuing a music career would be do it. The sky’s the limit and the dream is yours. It’s a tough ride up but I hear the view is amazing.
