A dream come true for sophomores

Having fun, getting involved on campus, and getting help selecting a major is a dream come true for sophomores.

McDaniel College has been focusing on freshmen for a long time, so the Office of Student Affairs, led by Dean Lisa Breslin and Dean Peggy Bair, decided to create the Dream Team.

For the first time, sophomores at McDaniel College now have the opportunity to have peer mentors.

Breslin explains, “These students, like the peer mentors for first-year students, mentor sophomores and, truthfully, any students beyond their first year who appreciate support beyond their first year experience.”

The Dream Team members also “sponsor events that foster class unity and work on teams to support needs that tend to either be uniquely sophomore needs – or just needs that continually crop up no matter a student’s year,” according to Breslin.

One of the members of the Dream Team is Kelsey Burkhardt, a sophomore here at McDaniel College.

“It is a great internship and I got involved because it is great to communicate with students,” said Burkhardt. “It is a great idea to help sophomore students find their place, get involved, and support them.”

Many students are involved in this program and many are taking advantage of it, so if you need help with anything the Dream Team will be there for you, confirms Breslin.

“Dream Team members are continually unfolding random acts of kindness,” stated Breslin.
