Lighter Side of the Campus Safety Blotter

With the spring season and the lure of warm weather around the corner, McDaniel students have started drinking beer, smoking pot, and partying once again.

The past two months have been a non-stop fiesta here on the hill, leaving campus safety officers with little time to complete their taxes and celebrate Presidents Day.

Since the beginning of Feb. 2011, there have been 11 drug-related arrests and 24 alcohol-related write-ups here on campus. This may well be a record. Congratulations students.

The mystery here: where is all the money for the party supplies coming from now that we’re nearing the end of the school year?

In addition to the spring party, there has been more than one “hit and run” on parked cars on campus. The culprits are still at large and will be featured on America’s Most Wanted next month.

Displaying perhaps too much school spirit, two students got ejected from McDaniel’s final home basketball game. Too bad they each chose to drink a fifth of Canadian whiskey prior, or else they may have been able to dodge the disorderly conduct/ drunk in public charges.

Perhaps due to the excessive partying, crimes at McDaniel have seen a significant drop in creativity. One unoriginal crime was the theft of an iPod from Glar dining hall; another was the ransacking of a room in Ward Hall. Whatever happened to late night streaking and hanging mascots from the flagpole? Then again, we ain’t at Harvard no more.

Rounding out the fun here at McDaniel College were the shenanigans that surely took place here on Spring Fling. Stay classy McDaniel!
