Real Food Challenge: Striving to Improve Student Dining


The Real Food Challenge is currently being run by the Progressive Student Union, in a concentrated effort to improve the dining services provided by Sodexo. The Real Food Challenge, through student activism, strives to challenge and encourage meal providers to change their menu to sustainable, organic, free trade, and locally grown options. Choice with regards to dietary needs (i.e. gluten free, vegans, and vegetarians) is also on the agenda.Caroline Unger, the head of the Progressive Student Union, and members Cristina Juarez and Jamil Elfahdi, speak about why Real Food Challenge is so important for McDaniel.
