What is your preferred name and major(s) and minor(s)?
My name is Kelsey and I am a Communication major with Journalism & New Media minor.

 

What are some of the jobs you held at McDaniel?
I worked at the Writing Center as a tutor.

 

What organizations were you part of at McDaniel?
I was part of Free Press, Honors Program, Ultimate Frisbee club, Alpha Lambda Delta, Lambda Pi Eta, Sigma Tau Delta, Phi Beta Kappa.

 

Tell us more about your story at McDaniel. How much did you enjoy your time at McDaniel?
I loved my time at McDaniel. I fell in love with it after visiting during my senior year of high school, and I’m so happy with the experiences I’ve had and friendships I’ve made.

 

Who do you think is/was your best mentor(s)?
The entire Communication department has been awesome and supportive throughout my four years here.

 

What were some of the challenges you encountered and how did you overcome them?
I wrote a highly controversial commentary article my freshman year, and dealing with the backlash was extremely difficult. Thankfully I had the support of the Free Press staff and the Writing Center and they helped me write an editorial to clarify things.

 

What are your plans for after graduation?
Paying student loans.

 

What is your best memory at McDaniel? What is your worst memory at McDaniel?
Studying abroad in Budapest during the fall 2014 semester was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. I think that entire semester is my best memory since I was living in and traveling around Europe.

 

What advice can you give to those not graduating?
Be passionate about your work, have fun, and say yes to new experiences. Oh, and keep an open mind.
