On Thursday, April 7, select pieces of artwork by undergraduate students were showcased at the Rice Gallery. Diverse creations dotted the walls and pedestals in the space – mediums ranged from the traditional ink on paper to high-tech digital animation. The student artists spoke confidently and eloquently about their work.
Jurors who work outside of McDaniel College selected the pieces put on display at the Rice Gallery from a large pool of artwork. The top artists of the exhibit were awarded during the gallery opening. The first place prize went to Hunter Metcalf for his piece Fly Catching, which features fishing flies made from feathers in mini glass jars.
