On Sunday, Oct. 24, our McDaniel family tragically lost first-year student Dillan Krebs. He began attending McDaniel in fall 2021 to study in the accounting economics program. Details surrounding Krebs’ death are still being determined.

All are welcome to attend a candlelight vigil for Krebs on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in Big Baker Chapel to remember and honor his life.

McDaniel College encourages all community members to seek support and make use of services on campus.

Students can contact the Wellness Center for counseling. Extended hours are being offered through Wednesday in Winslow Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for walk-in appointments, virtually and in person. Employees are encouraged to seek assistance from McDaniel’s Employee Assistance Program. Additional resources and self-help resources can be found at www.bhsonline.com.

There are also additional resources available online for those processing this loss. The entire Free Press staff wants the McDaniel community to know they are not alone, and help is in reach. Continue talking to your family, on the Hill and at home, and be there for one another and yourselves. This type of tragedy affects us all.

We send our deepest condolences to Krebs’ family, friends and loved ones.
