McDaniel Student Doesn’t Care about Sports, Tells Everyone

At a recent meal at Englar Dining Hall, sophomore Social Work major Andrew Moore sat and listened to a number of friends talk about NHL trade rumors and the upcoming Major League Baseball season. When there was a gap in the conversation, Moore chimed in, sarcastically, “Oh, sportsball! Yay! Go team!,” making it clear that he did not care about sports.

“I just don’t care,” says Moore, pushing his hair back and spinning his cell phone on the table.”

Moore makes a habit of reminding his peers that he does not care about athletics at any level.

“How will people know that I went to a liberal arts school if I don’t say ‘sportsball?’,” he declared. Moore is not just apathetic about sports. He goes out of his way to make fans of organized athletics know that he does not agree with their interests.

He has plans to attend intramural games and varsity McDaniel sports this spring with a large sign that reads, “SPORTS HARDER!” “It will be funny,” he added.
